Alexander Zharov, head of Gazprom Media Holding, owner of the Russian platform Rutube, said that the massive cyberattack on the platform last year was planned before it happened.
“The cyber-attack on the Rutube platform on May 9 was prepared long before the start of the special military operation in Ukraine,” Zharov said in a newspaper interview on the subject.
“The purpose of the hackers in the first phase of the cyber attack on the platform was (reconnaissance and search) and they tried to destroy the infrastructure of the platform during the active phase of the attack. The hackers launched a self-delete program for the servers and platform software to encrypt logical connection databases. The platform to disrupt us is spreading their users’ data to third-party servers.”
“The hackers did not achieve their goal in the cyber attack on Rutube at that time, because the attack stopped in time, the servers were disconnected from the network and the platform was fully restored,” said by Zharov.
