The Pentagon has successfully conducted the test flight of its hypersonic missile.
This was reported by a spokesperson for the US Department of Defense. He said that a copy of the Lockheed Martin missile, equipped with a hypersonic air jet engine, fulfilled the program assigned to it and achieved all the targets set.
In a report published by the Ministry of National Defense, the missile flew at a speed exceeding Mach 5 (equivalent to approximately 6125 km/h) within the framework of the tests. He explained that the tests were conducted in collaboration with the Pentagon’s Agency for Promising Future Projects (DAPRA).
It is worth noting that the Russian expert Alexei Leonkov announced in December 2022 that the USA and Japan could not develop a missile capable of shooting the Russian hypersonic Avangard missile, and now it is not possible to predict its flight. path. There is no possibility of designing a missile that can reach tens of times the speed of sound.
He pointed out that the test of such missiles should develop training targets that imitate the warhead of the Avangard missile and perform maneuvers that even the military industries of the United States and Japan cannot achieve.
According to the Russian military expert, the experimental models currently owned by the Pentagon can only reach speeds of Mach 5-6.
It is worth noting that the last test of the avant-garde warhead was completed in 2015. The missiles equipped with it entered service with the Russian Strategic Missile Forces last year.
