Russian engineers have developed a reconnaissance complex that can recognize the army from a distance of 18 kilometers using laser beams.
A source in the Russian defense industrial complex explained that the “Ironia” opto-electronic reconnaissance system is the basis of the new complex, which is characterized by better characteristics and higher efficiency.
The complex is an integral part of the new reconnaissance system for paratroopers, installed on the vehicle platform “Typhoon – VDV” and developed for use in special operations. Complex devices allow receiving, saving and storing information.
The complex includes a compass, a satellite navigator and a laser rangefinder, which records coordinates and sends them in the form of a digital signal to those interested. If relays are used, the signal transmission distance can reach 400 km.
First introduced at the Army-2021 forum, the ЗА-СпН armored vehicle is intended for use by special forces units operating away from the main friendly forces.
The armored vehicle uses ceramic shields and is armed with a 12.7mm heavy machine gun, Cornet anti-tank missiles and an 82mm mortar. Such armored vehicles were used in the field of special military operations.
Regarding the “Ironia” optoelectronic system, it is actively used in military special operations, where television cameras, night vision devices and laser rangefinders allow the collection of important reconnaissance information day and night.
