Alexander Sitnikov, a military analyst in the Russian newspaper “Svobodnaya Prisa”, reported that Russia decided to adapt the medium-range “Kha-101” air-to-surface missile to the conditions of special military operation.
Quoting some Western sources, the Kha-101 missile is often used in special military operations in Ukraine, the developed subsonic wing Kha-50 missile is simpler in design and cheaper, moreover, it is fired from at a distance of 1,500 km. to hit all targets on the territory of Ukraine without entering.
This missile has been developed and its design simplified so that this simple and cheap missile can hit targets at a distance of 1,500 km with an accuracy of up to 5 meters.
It is not known how many Kha-50 missiles the military industry is willing to produce. However, the analyst does not rule out that it will be made in batches, like the Russian-made “Lancet” suicide drones.
Russia is expected to begin mass industrial production of upgraded Kha-50 (Ezdilier 715) air-to-surface missiles in the summer of 2023 to target military facilities in various regions of Ukraine, including the western regions.
According to the analyst, the Tu-22 launcher will carry around 8 Kha-50 missiles, while the upgraded Tu-95-MS launcher will be able to carry 14 such missiles in addition to the strategically developed Tu-160 launcher. missiles.
It is noteworthy that the design of the Kha-50 missile began in the early 1990s at the Raduga Scientific Research Office, and on December 24, 2014 an agreement was signed between the Raduga Scientific Research Office and the Tupolev Company to adapt the A. -50 missiles (Izdelier-715). ) with the Tu-22M3M launcher. The production of the missile is included in the government’s armament program for the years 2018-2027, and government tests of the missile in question are being conducted until 2017.
It is noteworthy that the winged missile has a length of 6 meters, a weight of 1,600 kilograms, an operational range of 1,500 km, an economic speed of 700 km / h, and a maximum speed of 950 km / h.
It is expected to carry upgraded “Tu-22”, “Tu-95” (Bear) and upgraded “Tu-160”.
The missile is equipped with the “GLONASS” navigation system, a continuity system for self-navigation, and the “OTLISC” system, which adjusts the missile’s trajectory in the final phase of its flight.
Because it flies so low, this stealth Russian missile is very difficult to detect by enemy defenses.
According to the Russian military analyst, due to its wide range (1,500 km), the Kha-50 missile can pose a serious threat to all facilities located on the territory of Ukraine, without exception.
