The Russian army has received a set of artillery thermal and acoustic reconnaissance systems “Penicillin”.
The Russian Ministry of Defense previously reported that these systems were successfully operating in the military’s special operations zone.
The Russian agency “TASS”, citing a source from the company “Ross Electronica”, states that the company continues to supply the thermal acoustic reconnaissance system to the Russian artillery and reconnaissance units, and the “Penicillin” system of the company “Vector” as a designer fulfills its obligations to deliver these systems. It is noteworthy that such systems first appeared in the Russian Armed Forces in January 2021.
In October 2022, the Russian army tested artillery positions in the Krasny Port and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine at the site of a special military operation, which it revealed.
The system is installed on the Russian-made KamAZ truck platform, on which a vertical antenna is raised, on which the optical-electronic reconnaissance unit is installed.
The system uses 12 thermal devices, including 4 acoustic radars and 6 thermal cameras, to detect enemy artillery fire.
The system can operate in temperature conditions of -40°C to +50°C.
