The wind that is felt this Monday at the Madeira airport has already caused the diversion of nine flights and the cancellation of four, according to the information available on the ANA – Aeroportos website.
Until 7:30 p.m. this Monday, two flights from Lisbon (Ryanair and TAP), one from London (Easyjet) and another from Helsinki (Finnair) were cancelled.
Another nine diverged due to the strong wind felt at the Madeira Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo. The Funchal port authority has issued bad weather and strong wind warnings for the coast of the Madeira archipelago which will be valid until 18:00 on Tuesday.
The warnings are based on the forecasts of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) on the general meteorological situation (wind and sea) on the coast. In the bad weather notice, the regional maritime authority indicates that it is classified as “signal six”, which means wind between 51 and 62 kilometers / hour from any direction.
The wind will blow from the north/northeast “fresh to very cool, temporarily strong from the end of the day,” it adds.
