The James Webb telescope discovers the dust rings of the star Fomalhaut

Through the James Webb Telescope, NASA astronomers obtained photographs of an asteroid belt around the star Fomalhaut, located 25 light years from Earth in the constellation of Piscis Austrinus (Astral Fish). And not only that: they also discovered several dust rings

According to a note on the NASA website, the photographs allow you to see the “dust produced in collisions between planetesimals, these which are remnants of the solar system itself”.

The star is made up of several rings of dust that are 20 billion kilometers away. Although the first Fomalhaut dust ring has already been detected, James Webb has let us see the rest. “We can see internal girdles that we have never seen before,” he read in the statement.

Astronomers believe that this discovery could help to understand how the solar system formed.
