Nineteen municipalities in the districts of Faro, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Santarém and Guarda present the maximum danger of rural fire on Tuesday, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

The IPMA forecasts generally very cloudy skies for this Tuesday on the continent, periods of light rain in the North and Center until early afternoon, sometimes strong winds on the west coast and in the mountains and a slight drop in maximum temperature.

The minimum temperatures will oscillate between 10 degrees Celsius (in Braga) and 19 (in Faro) and the maximum between 21 (in Braga and Viana do Castelo) and 33 (in Évora).

In this meteorological scenario, they are in maximum danger are the municipalities of Lagos, Portimão, Monchique, Silves, Loulé, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira, Alcoutim, Castro Marim (Faro), Portalegre, Marvão, Castelo de Vide, Nisa, Gavião (Portalegre), Vila Velha de Ródão, Proença -a-Nova (Castelo Branco), Mação, Sardoal (Santarém) and Sabugal (Guarda).

More than 50 municipalities from Faro, Beja, Lisbon, Coimbra, Santarém, Viseu, Portalegre, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Vila Real and Bragança present this Tuesday very high danger of fire.

The IPMA also placed several councils from all the districts of the continent, except Aveiro, Porto and Viana do Castelo, in high danger fire this Tuesday.

The risk of fire, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from reduced to the maximum.

The calculations are obtained from the air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and the amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.

The Institute anticipates at least until Saturday a worsening risk country fire.

Since the beginning of the year, the 2,555 fire occurrences have already affected 7,672 hectares of rural areas.
