The districts of Viseu, Guarda, Leiria, Castelo Branco and Coimbra are under a yellow warning this Thursday due to the forecast of showers, sometimes intense and with the possibility of hail, and frequent and scattered storms, according to the IPMA.
According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), these five districts of mainland Portugal are under yellow notice between 3:25 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. this Thursday.
During this period, “rain, sometimes heavy and which may occasionally include hail, especially in mountainous areas”, and “frequent and scattered” thunderstorms are expected.
The remaining 13 districts of mainland Portugal are “without warnings” from IPMA, namely Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Vila Real, Bragança, Lisboa, Santarém, Portalegre, Setúbal, Évora, Beja and Faro.
The yellow warning, the least serious on a scale of three, is issued by the IPMA whenever a risk situation occurs for certain activities depending on the weather situation.
