The river beach of Vale de Juncal, in the municipality of Mirandela, has already returned to normal after the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) advised against bathing, a source from the local authorities informed Lusa on Monday.
As published by the APA, Water was advised against on July 31st.
The reason, as described, was the risk of microbiological contamination of the water.
Contacted on Friday, a source from the municipality of Mirandela explained to Lusa that, due to a momentary electrical failure in a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) upstream, The waste was released into the water.
Non-conformities were detected immediately during regular analyses.
The fault was resolved and, according to the same source, the APA’s authorization to remove the warnings was expected.
The APA provides, by area of the country, the beaches that are not recommended and closed during the bathing season.
