Chinese company Xpeng raises 137 million euros to develop flying cars

Xpeng Aeroht, a subsidiary of Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng dedicated to developing flying cars, has raised $150 million (€137 million) in its latest round of funding.

The news was announced on Tuesday by the Chinese financial news portal Yicai.

The company intends build the first large-scale production line for the land-based aircraft carriera vehicle composed of separable ground and air modules that can be autonomously combined, which could begin accepting reservations in the next quarter.

In October 2021, Xpeng Aeroht had raised $500 million (456 million euros) in the largest round of financing for an Asian company in this sector.

The company, which has already applied for vehicle certification by Chinese civil aviation authorities, conducted more than 20,000 flight tests with the five previous generations of vehicles.
