Researchers from the Swiss multinational Nestlé have presented an algorithm that can determine the biological age of a dog and compare its health status with that of other animals of the same age, helping to calculate life expectancy.
The algorithm uses data from 12 years of studies and takes into account changes in glucose and other blood metersas well as changes in the kidneys, the food giant said in a statement, about the research it carries out to improve its products for pets.
With this data, the new tool “can determine the biological age of the dog, its health status and its life expectancy according to its date of birth“highlighted the authors of the study, published in the specialized journal GeroScience.
