Republican candidate Donald Trump sued the CBS channel for an interview they conducted with his opponent, Kamala Harris, on the 60 Minutes program. He accuses them of having tried to interfere in the elections on the 5th in favor of the Democrat, “distorting the information.” And he demands 10 billion dollars in damages (more than 9 billion euros), according to Fox News.

In the complaint, filed this Thursday, Trump’s lawyers accuse the channel of “partisan and illegal acts of interference in elections and voters through malicious, misleading and substantial information distortions, calculated to confuse, deceive and mislead the public.” . At issue are the editing cuts CBS made to the interview’s promotional content, which show different parts of Harris’ response to one of the questions. Trump demanded that the channel publish the entire interview script, which CBS refused, a right protected by freedom of the press, included in the first amendment of the US Constitution.

Trump’s defense argues that this edition was intended to “tip the balance in favor of the Democratic Party as the close presidential election, which President Trump is winning, nears its end.” In response to the former president’s original request, CBS had already guaranteed that it did not manipulate the images and that it “never concealed any part of the vice president’s responses on the subject.”
