Wake Fail: The CW Network Admits It’s ‘Unprofitable’, Now the Lowest-Rated Streaming Network

The CW is best known for its scripted wake-up show, but after it was sold recently, executives admitted that their lowest ratings were because the average viewer wasn’t interested in the show.

The CW is known for shows based on DC comic book characters, as well as many series for young adults.

Almost every show the CW has produced in the past decade has been filled with “representations” of a radical LGBTQ and transgender agenda, attacks on Republicans and Donald Trump, and general support for an far-left political agenda.

, for example, added a transgender character as the main character in 2018 and had conservative and anti-Trump content. However, it is far from the only show that supports awakening themes. It was a teen show about witches that heavily promoted lesbianism and consistently displayed anti-male sentiments, and each of the superhero shows often featured gay characters as the main characters.

Whatever the direction of the network’s show, one thing is certain: a massive underdog that continues to sit at the bottom of the ratings. “It’s no secret that the CW isn’t profitable,” said CFO Lee Ann Glicha. The network has run at a loss since its debut in 2006 and remains one of the least watched on television.

Now, the network’s new owners seem to have finally realized that their teen-focused, wake-up program doesn’t appeal to the core age demographic of middle- and late-age adults who are only part of the 50s.

According to Deadline, the new executive owners of Nexstar Media Group are planning major changes. Nexstar President and COO Tom Carter stated that the script for the series will continue, but the demographic focus will change.

Per Deadline: “The CW’s demographic focus will also change over time,” Carter said. Historically, shows like Riverdale, All American, Arrow, and Supernatural have targeted audiences from the teens to the 30s. But the truth is, the average CW viewer is 58 years old, and Carter says that split explains why The CW is the lowest-rated streaming network.”

Admitting that The CW is airing teen shows that no one watches is instant ridicule on social media.
