On MSNBC’s “The Cross Connection” on Saturday, The Nation’s justice correspondent Eli Mistal asked what former President Donald Trump had to do “to go to jail”.
Mistal said the FBI’s “senior expert legal analysis” of the search warrant for Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home made him wonder why Trump wasn’t in jail.
“I mean, I can’t believe they haven’t started breaking things down yet, can I?” “Listen, senior expert, here’s the legal analysis of the affidavit [isn’t] Is this man in jail? For example, what does this person have to do to go to jail? I think one of the things that’s been missing from media narratives over the last 24 hours is what these 15 boxes we’re focusing on have found this year. …The President was stolen from confidential documents by sticky fingers – top secret documents.”
“We know this because that’s probably why they’re looking for more things he wouldn’t give. So the list of failures is what he’s willing to give up after two years. We had to raid him to get what he didn’t want to give. How is this person free? So that’s like a high-level question.” As for his legal protections, Jason, people should stop showing off to defend the President because he has no legal protection, okay?”
