With the North American presidential elections just around the corner, even the call to vote was paraded on the big night of the CFDA, known as the Fashion Oscars, for the awards distributed by the Council of Fashion Designers of America, the non-profit organization nonprofit founded by Eleanor Lambert in 1962. Within the American Museum of Natural History, industry highlights, from newcomers to veterans, don’t begin or end with these words from New York Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, but, after all, what we wear and how we use it is also a political exercise.
Presented by the British actress Cynthia Erivo, the evening began with the words of the president of the Fashion Chamber, the designer Thom Browne, followed by performances by names such as the Frenchman Yseultperforming, the screening of a film directed by Nian Fish that, which highlights last year’s American Fashion Highlights, and also gave the floor to Amazon Fashion President Jenny Freshwater, who presented the Innovation trophy.

Since then, four talents have been crowned best American designers of the year. Rachel Scott from Diotima won the title in the women’s clothing category. For the second time in a row, Willy Chavarria won in the men’s clothing segment. In accessories, Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie announced the winning name of Raúl López, from Luarwhich debuted to win in 2022. In turn, Molly Gordon and Brandon Maxwell delivered the Henry Zankov the Google Shopping Emerging Designer award.
The gala also distributed honorable mentions to those honored. The singer André 3000 announced the singer. Erykah Badu as a fashion icon. And the Founder’s Prize, in honor of Eleanor Lambert, went to the British publisher Hamish Bowlesdelivered by Marc Jacobs.
