Del Rio Border Patrol agents rescue seven immigrants in the Rio Grande who were being dragged by strong currents. The rescue took place overnight while crossing the river border between Texas and Mexico.
Del Rio Sector Patrol Chief Jason D. Owens tweeted a video showing migrants being rescued by Border Search, Trauma and Rescue (BORSTAR) agents in the middle of the night. You can clearly see the fast current as the migrants move against the current.

According to Chief Owens, BORSTAR agents successfully evacuated seven migrants in the dark of night using a rescue bag, water rescue board and personal rescue device.
Not all immigrants are as lucky as these seven. Earlier this week, Breitbart Texas reported that Del Rio agents found the bodies of three immigrants. Two immigrants drowned and the third was found by agents on a farm near Uwalde, Texas.
Breitbart Texas contacted CBP officials for more information on this week’s deaths. Authorities confirmed the death, but Breitbart was referred to the local sheriff’s office for more information. CBP does not usually disclose the monthly number of immigrants found by agents or the local sheriff’s office.
On April 30, Border Patrol agents rescued more than 10,500 migrants at Mexico’s southwestern border. This rose from 12,833 for the 21 fiscal years. In the fiscal year 2020 and 2019, agents saved 5,071 and 4,920, respectively.
