Five people were killed when a 10-storey building in southern Abadan collapsed.
Iranian state television reported on Monday that rescuers were trying to help at least 80 people trapped under the rubble.
The semi-official Mehr news agency said the building is a residential-commercial property on Prince Al-Kabir Street in the city, close to the border with Iraq.

State television said emergency crews had been dispatched from other cities to assist in the rescue operation, and that two rescue teams, a helicopter and seven rescue vehicles were present at the scene.
