“All buyers from Greek companies have switched to paying in rubles in accordance with the conditions of Gazprom,” the Russian Novosti agency reported, citing a source in the Russian gas sector.

The agency’s source stressed that “this will avoid disruptions in supplies,” noting that Greece has “three major importers of Russian gas – DEPA Commerce, Mytilineos and Prometheus Gas.”

Russia’s share in Greek gas imports ranges from 45 to 55 percent, depending on the season. According to experts, it will not be possible to replace Russian gas with any other sources in the coming years.

The source noted that “the deadline for paying for gas supplies for April is May 25. Therefore, it is necessary that the money be credited to a special account on May 23. Transferring money into rubles and transferring money from one account to another takes two days. To do this, payment must be received in euros by 23 May.

It is noteworthy that the Russian “Gazprom” announced a complete cessation of gas supplies to Bulgaria, Poland and Finland in connection with the late payment of rubles by them.
