Photos of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson drinking a glass at a Downing Street party in 2020 amid lockdown measures have sparked new accusations of lying ahead of an upcoming report on the Partygate scandal. This, and the photos released by ITV News on Monday evening, were taken during the farewell party of media representative Lee Cain on November 13, 2020, days after new lockdown measures were introduced in England.

In the pictures, Boris Johnson raises his glass and talks to several people at a table that is lined with bottles of wine and food. The farewell party has been the subject of a police investigation, along with other celebrations organized in power circles during the coronavirus pandemic as part of a scandal dubbed “Party Gate”.

Asked in Parliament about the November party, Boris Johnson confirmed that there was no party that day and that he was confident no rules had been broken. He was fined by police for attending his 56th birthday party in June 2020 at Downing Street but was not punished for the farewell party, which again drew criticism. Deputy Labor leader Angela Rayner told ITV it was “surprising” that the Conservative leader was not fined for a party “that never looked like a business meeting”.
