A student was arrested Wednesday outside Dallas, Texas, for driving to school with two semi-automatic shotguns in his car, the Richardson Police Department said.
The arrest came a day after a young man killed 19 children and two teachers at an elementary school in the city of Uvalde, Texas, in one of the deadliest school shootings in the United States.

Richardson police received a phone call at 10:55 local time (4:55 p.m. in Lisbon) alerting that a young man was driving with a semi-automatic towards the Berkner Institute.

In a statement, the authorities explained that the young man was found unarmed inside the school.
However, an AK-47 and an AR-15 were found in his car, parked next to the school, for which the student was arrested for the state felony of carrying a weapon on school grounds.
