British police warned the public that they would “monitor” social media posts for “hate crimes” as authorities marched with the “Pride of Progress” flag on Monday.
Essex Police have warned the British not to broadcast their thoughts as authorities celebrate Pride Month by removing the Pride of Progress flag, adding transgender colors in addition to the traditional colors of the rainbow, and black and brown stripes to represent LGBTQ+ ethnic minorities.
They wrote: “We celebrate diversity in Pride Month at our headquarters by raising the Proud Progress Flag and greeting the people who stand up for equality before us! #WeValueDifference #PoliceinPride”.
Essex police later warned the public not to criticize their efforts to show courtesy, adding: “We are following our reports. All hate crimes will be reported and investigated.”

Merseyside police were criticized last year during a so-called “hate crime awareness event” for a police van adorned with a billboard that read “It’s a crime to be offensive”.
UK police forces are also keen to highlight their integrity, including the release of a scathing video by Liverpool Police promoting “pronoun awareness” in which officers stress the importance of using gender-neutral terms “and “enhancing inclusivity through defiance” of negativity in all its manifestations.
