The Palestinian Foreign Ministry condemned the rejection by the Israeli Supreme Court of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate’s appeal against the confiscation of its property by the settlement association Ateret Kohenim in the Bab el-Khalil neighborhood of Jerusalem, stating that “this decision proves once again that the system of courts and the judiciary in Israel are an integral part of the occupation system.

The statement explains that this system is “engaged in providing legal protection for the confiscation and seizure of Christian and Islamic property in Jerusalem as a link in the ongoing aggression against the Judaism of Jerusalem and its holy sites.” And he urged the UN Security Council to “assume its legal and moral obligations, stop the policy of double standards and immediately respect and implement UN resolutions.”

The ministry also urged the US administration to “deliver on its commitments and promises, reopen the consulate in Jerusalem and put pressure on Israel to end its occupation and Judaization of Jerusalem.” As well as UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who quickly activated the international system for the protection of the Palestinians in general and Jerusalem and its holy places in particular.
