Italian and Greek investigators arrested four Britons in the Greek port city of Thessaloniki after seizing 300kg of cocaine.
Italy’s financial police in Reggio Calabria announced on Saturday that 260 packages of drugs with a market value of 10 million euros ($ 10.5 million) had been stored.
The age of the four Britons arrested ranged from 38 to 52.
A senior police official told the dpa that according to preliminary findings, the British were suspected members of a criminal organization in the Balkans.
Police also confiscated more drugs, guns, cartridges, cash and 11 mobile phones from a rented luxury villa in the Greek municipality of Terme, near Thessaloniki.
The drug was discovered as a result of investigations conducted in the coastal town of Gioia Tauro in Calabria, in southern Italy.
The high official noticed that drugs from South America were regularly taken there.
The German News Agency reported that the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration informed investigators.
The port of Joya Tauro is a hotspot for drug trafficking from one ship to another.
