Reuters reported: “The brand name of the McDonald’s restaurant chain has become Fcusna & Tochka in Russia, and the distinctive McDonald’s brand has ceased to exist after the Big Mac left Russia forever, and the Fcusna & Tochka chain, a name that means sweet and enough, intends to re- open 200 One by the end of June and 850 by the end of summer.

“Their goal is to ensure that guests do not feel any difference in quality and atmosphere,” Oleg Baruev, CEO of the chain, said at a press conference at the first McDonald’s restaurant, which opened in Moscow in 1990. Baroev, who was appointed CEO of McDonald’s a few weeks before starting operations in Russia in February, added that “the restaurant chain will retain its interior design but remove all references to the old name.”

The opening of a chain of restaurants could be a test of the Russian economy’s ability to become self-sufficient and withstand Western sanctions.
