The Israeli army announced on Saturday that it had launched airstrikes on Hamas military targets in the Gaza Strip hours after rockets were fired by Palestinian militants into the southern Gaza Strip town of Asqalan.
Israeli army spokesman Avikhai Adrayi said Israeli warplanes had attacked several Hamas military targets, adding that the planes targeted weapons factories inside a Hamas military site and three other Hamas military bases in the strip.
“Hamas is responsible for what is happening inside the Gaza Strip,” Adrayi said, adding that Israeli attacks were “in response to last night’s rocket fire from the Gaza Strip into the Asqalan area.”
