A lucky and possibly wealthy person offered more than $ 19 million in an online auction to win a private lunch with American billionaire businessman Warren Buffett for a San Francisco charity.
The winning bid in this auction significantly exceeded the previous record of $ 4.57 million paid by digital currency investor Justin Sun in a similar auction in 2019. The identity of the new winner has not yet been revealed.
Proceeds from the auction will go to Glide, a San Francisco-based nonprofit that provides food, shelter, HIV and hepatitis C testing, job training and programs for children.
Earlier, Warren Buffett, 91, chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, raised more than $ 53.2 million for Glide in 21 auctions for lunch.
The auctions started in 2000 and in 2020 and 2021 there were no auctions due to the Corona virus epidemic.
Buffett also pledged to donate almost all of his assets, and according to Forbes magazine, his fortune was estimated at $ 93.4 billion on Friday, making him the seventh richest person in the world.
