More than 30 Islamic State terrorists have escaped from prison in Syria

More than 30 militants from the Islamic State terror group fled early Sunday from the central prison in Raqqa, eastern Syria, a facility run by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), an Arab Kurdish militia.

“More than 30 Islamic State terrorists escaped early Sunday morning from a prison controlled by SDF Kurdish separatists in the north of the city,” the Syrian daily El Watan reported, citing local sources.

After the escape, the Syrian Democratic Forces lifted checkpoints, sent snipers and established a security cordon in the prison region, as well as conducting house-to-house searches throughout the region.

On the other hand, the Syrian daily reported that more than 30 people were killed and wounded in clashes between pro-Turkish militias and militiamen from the extremist group Tahrir al Sham, from the former Al Nusra Front, in the Afrin region, in northern Syria. .
