On the eve of the G7 summit in the Bavarian Alps, the office of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson emphasized that “Ukraine can and will win, but for this they need our support. Now is not the time to abandon Ukraine.”

In a statement, he said the UK was ready to provide another 429 million pounds ($525 million) in loan guarantees, warning “the Ukrainian government fears we will run out of money by autumn unless new liquidity is introduced.” With this pledge, total British financial and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine this year will be about $1.8 billion.

Johnson is under internal pressure, especially due to his defeat in local elections, but his support for Ukraine remains unwavering. He has visited Kyiv twice since the start of the war with Russia on February 24, and handed over weapons to the Ukrainian army ahead of other Western allies.
