The Pentagon announced that a hypersonic missile test conducted on Wednesday in Hawaii was unsuccessful.

In a statement, the ministry attributed the failure of the test to a “missile launch problem,” without specifying the nature or details of the problem.

“Information gained from the failed test will be used, which will be vital for future tests,” the statement said, highlighting “the Pentagon’s confidence in its ability to develop hypersonic offensive and defensive capabilities on schedule.”

And the United States has successfully tested other hypersonic programs. In May last year, the US Air Force successfully tested its Airborne Rapid Reaction Force (ARRW), and in May, the Pentagon successfully tested an Airborne Breathing Weapon Ultrasonic Scanner (HAWC), but kept the tests secret for two weeks to “avoid escalating tensions with Russia.”
