In a horrific scene, a tropical storm tore a ship apart at sea and 20 crew members disappeared near Hong Kong.
Officials said the entire crew of more than 20 people were missing after the ship split in half in waters near Hong Kong after it stormed Tropical Storm Chapa.
And the government’s aviation organization announced the rescue of 3 crew members of the 30-passenger ship and said: “The search and rescue operation continues 300 kilometers southwest of the city.”
He stated that some of the crew had left the ship and that the severe weather conditions had hampered the rescue efforts.
Chapa passed along the International Financial Center, bringing torrential rains and strong winds, disrupting the city’s public transportation and forcing many businesses to close.
The Hong Kong Meteorological Service downgraded the typhoon warning level until 3pm on Saturday as Chapa is expected to make landfall near Changyang in China’s Guangdong province.
