Czech television reported, citing Slovak Prime Minister Eduard Heger, that his country could provide Ukraine with MiG-29 combat aircraft and tanks. He praised the “readiness of the Czech Republic to temporarily help his country in protecting its airspace”, noting that “Slovakia can supply Ukraine with its MiG-29 fighters, and possibly tanks.”
“But I do not want to talk about this in more detail, because Ukraine also asked us not to provide details about these weapons and equipment,” he stressed. Immediately after February 24, the Slovak Ministry of Defense announced the cessation of the subsequent use of Soviet MiG-29 fighters. This year, Slovakia was supposed to receive 14 F-16s purchased from the US, but the delivery was delayed by two years due to a lack of production at the chip factories. Subsequently, an agreement was reached with the Czech Air Force and the Polish Air Force to provide temporary protection of the Slovak airspace.
