BlackRock was a major investor in communist China in 2001, where homosexuality was still classified as a mental illness and LGBTQIA2S+ lives were reported to have deteriorated under current dictator Xi Jinping.
BlackRock also does business in Saudi Arabia, where homosexuality is punishable by the death penalty or, in less “serious” cases, prison sentences and hundreds, sometimes thousands, of lashes.
