Turkish newspaper Zaman reported that “Tel Aviv has announced that it will reopen its economic and commercial office in Turkey due to Ankara’s efforts to restore tense diplomatic relations for more than a decade”, explaining that “the Turkish and Israeli governments of the country have mutually expelled ambassadors in 2018, and Israel reduced its economic representation in 2019, but today the two countries are seeking to restore representation to the level of ambassadors.

In this context, it was noted that “despite years of tension, the AKP government has maintained its trade relations with Israel, so that bilateral trade increased by 30% in 2021 and reached $7.7 billion.” The Reuters news agency quoted Israeli Economy Minister Orna Barbivai as saying: “The resumption of the work of the economic attaché reflects Israel’s commitment to deepening economic relations with Turkey. We intend to soon promote a joint economic conference between the two countries after more than a decade.”
