Flight cancellations to and from Lisbon continue this Wednesday. According to the official ANA website, there are already more than two dozen canceled flights. With 12 arrivals and 12 departures from Lisbon without taking place this Wednesday, the chaotic scenario of last weekend is not repeated, but the limitations continue in the Portuguese capital.
Rádio Observador noted lower turnout at TAP’s customer service desks on site, although some people are still waiting in line for responses from the airline.
Will my flight be cancelled?
One of the most tense moments this morning occurred with a passenger who was flying from Lisbon, with a stopover in Prague, and whose final destination was Lagos, whose flight was cancelled. “I have my wife sick in the hospital and they only give me a flight tomorrow, I don’t want to fly tomorrow, I want to go today, I need to go today,” the passenger at the TAP counter said excitedly.
The 8 o’clock news
Another passenger, Kesiane Rodrigues, told Rádio Observador that she has been “trying to get to São Paulo for four days”. After a canceled flight from Malaga, Spain, to Lisbon, the only option was to take the “seven-hour taxi ride” to make sure he didn’t miss his flight from Lisbon to São Paulo.
Once in Lisbon, the passenger ended up canceling her second flight. She had to spend another night in Lisbon and this Wednesday she already checked in again for São Paulo, but she fears that the flight will be canceled once again.
Waiting for solutions is also a Canadian family, who is planning a vacation in Greece, but sees the flight between Lisbon and Zurich canceled and making it difficult to reach the destination. The Toronto-Lisbon-Zurich-Greece route is compromised with the cancellation of the TAP Lisbon-Zurich flight at 8:45 a.m., which would subsequently allow connection to the final destination, Greece.
After the pandemic and the worst crisis came chaos. 8 answers about what happens at airports
At the end of the holidays, and with the duty to report to work from Thursday, Andrea Reese and her husband had their flight to San Francisco canceled and are awaiting solutions from TAP to try to reach their destination.
The situation at Lisbon airport is not unique, with several European airports facing similar situations. Even so, on Monday, through a message posted on TAP’s Facebook, signed by the CEO, Christine Ourmières-Widener, the airline admitted that “this weekend has not been easy for TAP due to various restrictions“.
Recognize that you are not “providing the excellent service” that you planned in light of the “crisis that air transport is going through”, a situation that “according to the most recent forecasts, should not improve in the coming weeks, as a result of the regular increase in travel”.
Christine Ourmières-Widener apologized for the embarrassment. “We guarantee that TAP and all our teams are committed to minimizing any inconvenience that may arise during your trip with us. We offer you our most sincere apologies (…) ”, she reads.
