Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali As-Sadiq stated that “the army will not participate in any negotiation process to form a civilian government in the country” and pointed out that “the decisions of the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, clearly indicated the intention of the army withdraw from the political action represented in the mediation. The Tripartite is sponsored by the United Nations, the African Union and IGAD.

During a meeting in the capital Khartoum with foreign diplomats and representatives of regional and international organizations, he indicated that “the political process will be purely civil, according to the formula that the political forces demanded.” in the country, overcoming the difficulties of life and arranging elections.

For its part, the tripartite mechanism, which includes the United Nations, the African Union and the Intergovernmental Authority for East Africa, stressed that the appropriate military-civilian dialogue formula it presides over is contrary to the decision of the Sudanese army not to participate in the negotiations.

And the joint statement said that “the tripartite mechanism on July 5 sent a letter to the participants of the June 8 meetings canceling the scheduled meeting with the coordinators.”

Al-Sadiq added: “This meeting, which was led by a tripartite mechanism, was based on civil-military dialogue, and with the decision of the army not to participate in the negotiations, the basis of this formula was cancelled.”
