The Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs announced the inclusion of metallurgy, transport and engineering in the list of sanctions imposed on Russia against the backdrop of its war with Ukraine.

She explained that the expanded list of sanctions includes the metallurgical industry, computer production, electronic and optical products, vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers, land and pipeline transport.

On July 11, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry summoned Canada’s Charge d’Affaires ad interim in connection with his country’s decision to return to Germany a turbine that was used to operate the Nord Stream 1 gas pipeline. “The Ukrainian side expressed its disappointment with the Canadian government’s decision to issue permission to return Nord Stream turbines operated by Siemens Energy Canada to Germany and called on Canada to reconsider its decision,” the statement said.
