On Sunday, President Joe Biden criticized his fist salute to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
“Why don’t you talk about something important?” Biden was stunned after reporters asked him if he regretted the punch moment.
“I’d be happy to answer an important question.”
After returning to the White House, the president spoke briefly to reporters, but was reluctant to discuss a controversial point with the crown prince, despite promising during his presidential campaign to see the Saudis as pariahs in the murder of dissident columnist Jamal Khashoggi.

On Friday, Biden laughed at reporters when he asked his critics to respond.
He said he talked about Khashoggi’s murder in his meeting with Salman and that he was “right and honest” with the crown prince.
“Essentially, he said he was… not personally responsible for this. I stated it was likely,” Biden said.
In an interview with CNN, Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir did not agree with Biden’s statement about the meeting.

He objected to the president’s taking the Saudi claims at face value.
When reporters asked Biden if the Saudis were telling the truth about the meeting, he replied “No”.
