Al-Sisi’s religious adviser Usama Al-Azhari commented on the involvement of some in the veil issue in the death of student Naira Ashraf at the hands of a student in front of Mansour University, explaining that “Recent incidents have alarmed and frightened the Egyptians and we have mercy on Naira Ashraf and we urge her people to be resilient and I am very reticent in addressing some of these issues with the logic of noise and inserting the veil issue into the Naira Ashraf incident.”

And he added in his statement: “A person in the land of Egypt is respected for himself, therefore it is illogical or because of approaching God that a person is not treated with respect if he is not religious, and observance of Sharia is not through insulting a person or dominating him, the principle with which he came out is respect for the whole person.

Al-Azhari noted that “it is necessary to carry out a campaign and a project undertaken by Al-Azhar, endowment funds, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Social Solidarity and various media to strengthen Egyptian values and combat the misconceptions that are rooted in the minds of Egyptians.”
