The Turkish government, through its foreign minister, has denied accusations of carrying out an attack that killed civilians in northern Iraq, while the Arab League condemned the “Turkish attack”.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Thursday that his country did not attack civilians in Iraq’s Dohuk province, as a result of Wednesday’s airstrike that left eight dead and 23 wounded, adding that Iraqi authorities should not be complacent. . Trap.”

Turkey on Wednesday denied accusations by Iraqi officials and state media that it carried out an attack on the mountain resort in Dohuk.

Iraq summoned the Turkish ambassador in Baghdad over the attack, and the official Iraqi news agency announced that the government would summon the charge d’affaires in Ankara.

In an interview with TRT news channel, Cavusoglu said that Turkey’s military operations in Iraq always target the illegal Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), and added: “The attack on Duhok was carried out by terrorists.”

The Secretary General of the League of Arab States also condemned Turkey’s attack on a tourist resort in Dohuk, Iraq.

The Arab League asked Turkey to recalculate, maintain the principle of good neighborliness and refrain from any military action inside the Arab countries under any pretext.

Çavuşoğlu added: “The reports that hold Turkey responsible for this attack are the efforts of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) to hinder Ankara’s efforts to fight terrorism.”

Stating that “the whole world knows that we do not attack civilians”, he said that the Turkish army told his ministry that Turkey did not carry out this attack.

He stated: After this attack, which we believe was carried out by the terrorist organization (PKK), we are ready to negotiate with the Iraqi authorities and we can cooperate to resolve the ambiguity and find out the situation. Until this happens, it is not right to blame Turkey.
