Iranian Ambassador to Moscow Kazem Jalali said of what happened between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei during their meeting on the eve of the Astana summit in Tehran that “the President of Russia informed the leader of the Islamic Revolution during their meeting in Tehran, that some of the leaders of the European countries said during meetings with him that they never wanted NATO to expand to the east and towards Russia, but when asked why this expansion is happening, they replied that this is an American demand.

In an interview with the media website of Ali Khamenei’s office, he explained that “the meeting discussed the issue of strengthening Iranian-Russian trade cooperation, vigilance against the misleading policies of the West, maintaining the unity of the Syrian territory, the need to expel America from the east.” Euphrates and the expansionist tendencies of the West and NATO, which led to the emergence of a crisis “in Ukraine”.

Jalali stated that “the Iranian leadership discussed some issues, and I think that his analysis of the issues was very attractive to the Russian side, and Khamenei, who is pathetic about the problems of the region, made some conclusions and warnings. both sides discussed regional and international issues, bilateral cooperation is also very close, and very good opinions were expressed.”

He said that “one of the most important demands of the leader of the Islamic revolution is to monitor the implementation of agreements and memorandums of understanding signed between the two countries, and now we are going through one of the best chapters in history.” relations between the two sides, and that the approach of the Russian government and the direction of the Iranian government are aimed at strengthening relations, rapprochement and unification of will.

Regarding the gradual abolition of dollar transactions between the two countries and the necessary preparations for this, Jalali pointed out: “Currently, 60% of our commercial transactions are carried out in rubles and rials, and we have made progress in this area. We may include the rest of our commercial exchanges within this framework as well. there is a will for this in Russia and in Iran as well, and this topic was one of the goals of the visit of the head of the Central Bank of Iran to Russia.”
