King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain dismissed Sheikh Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa from his position as the head of Bahrain’s Department of Culture and Antiquities and Minister of Culture due to her refusal to shake hands with the Israeli ambassador in Manama. He also mentioned that Sheikh Mai left the funeral after knowing the presence of the Israeli ambassador and also asked the American embassy not to publish any photos of him at the funeral.
Other reports indicate that the king signed a decree appointing Sheikh Khalifa bin Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Khalifa as the head of Bahrain’s Department of Culture and Antiquities, succeeding Sheikh Mai, who took to Twitter to show solidarity with He thanked.
