Brazil star Neymar will stand trial next October for irregularities in his 2013 transfer to Barcelona, a judicial source said on Wednesday.
Neymar and former Barcelona presidents Sandro Russell and Josep Maria Bartomeu will stand trial on charges of corruption in the signing of the current Paris Saint-Germain striker from his former Brazilian club Santos in 2013.
According to AFP, the trial will be held from October 17 to 31.
The case was opened based on a complaint filed by the Brazilian group “DIS”, which owns part of the player’s rights, after it felt affected by the move to the Catalan club.
The trial of this case started in January 2014 after the contradictions in some of the documents requested by the authorities were revealed.
Barcelona initially agreed to pay 57.1 million euros (40 million to the player’s family and 17.1 to his former club Santos) for his services, but according to calculations by the Spanish judiciary, the deal was worth at least 83. Million.
And the “DIS” group, which received 6 million of the amount paid to the Brazilian club, considered that Barcelona and Neymar agreed to hide the real value of the deal.
