He calls it “Zé Pretinho’s band”, but on stage it seems more like a reveling orchestra, a non-stop, non-stop carnival, the most joyous possible celebration of swing and funk, samba, rock and jazz. What you listen to for two hours is euphoria, exaltation, passion and excitement. It is the irresistible black Brazil, the infinite percussion, “a damn hot dance”, as we hear from a certain height on stage.
It’s hard to imagine a better way to spend a hot Saturday night or to end a festival, in this case Cool Jazz, than this: with Captain Jorge Ben, master of ceremonies at a wild party, and his band, proving that a festival Summer is the perfect setting for this tropical overflow that disturbs the bodies. Even more so when it is sponsored by one of the greatest figures in Brazilian music, brother to the rhythm of revelers Tim Maia and Gilberto Gil.
