The Norwegian ambassador to Angola said Thursday in Luanda that the Angolan President should visit the Nordic country at the end of this year, “an opportunity to expand and strengthen relations”.
Kikkan Marshall Haugen, at the end of his mandate, was received by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, for farewell greetings.
The President of the Republic will visit Norway in November, probably this year, and this will be an opportunity to increase and strengthen relations between our two countries”, said the Norwegian diplomat in statements to the press.
According to the ambassador, relations between the two countries “they are strong, particularly in the economic sector”.
“Angola is one of Norway’s most important partners in Africa“, said Kikkan Marshall Haugen, recalling that in terms of economic relations, the Norwegian oil company is responsible for approximately 10% of oil production in Angola, with trade between the two countries varying between two and four billion of dollars. (€1.8 billion and €3.7 billion of euros).

Kikkan Marshall Haugen said he hoped the economic relations will increase in the coming yearswith more Norwegian investment in other economic sectors and support for diversification of the Angolan economy.
Angola and Norway established diplomatic relations in 1977, highlighting cooperation in the oil and trade sectors.
