British newspaper The Guardian wrote in a report published on Monday, August 8, 2022, that the claims that Donald Trump, the former president of the United States, closed the sewers of the White House with paper towels seem to be true.
This British newspaper wrote that the American site “Axius” published images of these documents in one of the “bathrooms” of the White House and said that these images are related to a new report on the violations of Trump, who ordered his followers to storm the White House. . In turn, the House committee asked the National Archives to provide a description of the materials in the boxes of records recovered from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in July 2022.
At the same time, the US House of Representatives is demanding an investigation into whether Trump violated the law in dealing with these documents.
Axios, in turn, published images of folded papers written in Trump’s favorite pen in Trump’s hand, and these papers were placed at the bottom of various toilets.
The photos were released ahead of the release of a book by Trump White House correspondent Maggie Haberman for The New York Times, The Confidence Man, due out in October.
Described by Axios as a “notorious destroyer of Oval Office documents,” Trump’s photos of documents he flushed down White House toilets reveal potential evidence of violations of the Presidential Records Act.
According to Haberman, the disposals have occurred several times at the White House and on at least two foreign trips. Most of the words on the toilet paper are illegible, but one that stands out is Elise Stefanik, a Republican congresswoman from New York.
“Mr. Trump was not widely known to release documents in this fashion, but some of his aides were aware of the habit, which he had engaged in repeatedly,” Haberman wrote.
It was an extension of Trump’s long-standing habit of shredding documents that were supposed to be kept under the Presidential Records Act.
According to a previous Axios report, Haberman’s account of the Trump presidency is what “Trump fears most,” and many advisers are unhappy with his decision to speak to a reporter.
