Israeli media reported that two shellings took place near the al-Buraq wall and the Mughrabi gate in Jerusalem early Sunday morning, as the perpetrator managed to escape safely after carrying out the operation.

Israeli security forces closed the Silwan perimeter south of the al-Aqsa mosque in search of a suspect in two attacks near the al-Buraq wall and the al-Mugrabi gate.

An Israeli police spokesman stated: “Police recently received a report of a shooting on a bus near the Tomb of David (Ma’ale Hashalom) in Jerusalem,” adding, “We received an initial report that several people were injured. The scene of the incident, and began to close the place, investigate the case and look for the absconded suspect.”

For its part, Israel Ambulance Organization spokesman Zaki Heller said that 7 people were injured in the shootout, and Israeli media reported that the attacker had “escaped” and security forces “stormed” the Silwan area while looking for the suspect. The first shooting took place on the bus, and the second shooting took place at the entrance to the parking lot.

And the health authorities said in a statement from the ambulance crews that “medics are providing medical assistance to the victims,” noting that “7 people were admitted to the hospital as a result of gunshot wounds, including 6 men and one woman, two of them in serious condition.”

And the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that 4 American tourists were among the wounded in a double shelling in Jerusalem.
