An adviser to the President of Indonesia said that Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the G20 summit in Bali next November.

“Gokowi told me that Xi and Putin intend to attend (the summit) in Bali,” Andy Vidgaganto, a former cabinet secretary and unofficial adviser to President Goko Widodo, better known as Gokovi, told Reuters.

On Thursday, the Indonesian president told Bloomberg News that both leaders had assured him of this. Indonesian presidential officials did not respond to requests for confirmation of the report.

Xi Jinping’s trip will be his first outside of China since he visited Myanmar in January 2020.

China has a zero Covid policy, which has prompted it to close its borders almost completely to international travel.

Jokowi has sought to play the role of mediator between the two countries, and in recent months he has traveled to meetings with the presidents of Ukraine and Russia, calling for an end to the war and finding ways to alleviate the global food crisis.
