The president of the CASA-CE coalition called for government intervention to help solve the problem of list delegates, who demand payment for services rendered in the elections, and this Wednesday they vandalized the party’s headquarters in Luanda.

In statements to Lusa, Manuel Fernandes said that there is a “wave of revolt”, in part instigated by opportunism, which has led hundreds of list delegates, who followed the voting in the general elections last week, to the seats of the parties demanding subsidies.

The situation is out of our control”, lamented the president of the Broad Convergence for the Salvation of Angola – Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE), stressing that he never gave guidelines in the sense of making any payment to the list delegates who must supervise the electoral act “for reasons of patriotism and political militancy, and not in exchange for any compensation”.

He admitted, however, that although these were not the instructions of the party leadership “there could have been some errors” and that another message had been transmitted.

According to Manuel Fernandes, in previous elections the parties received an exclusive subsidy for list delegates, which did not happen this year.

The problem has also affected other small parties that stood for the general elections and that have been the target of the fury of their list delegates, who complain of having been deceived, as Lusa has already denounced.

We ask those who have the right to look at this situation and try to find a solution to calm things down and prevent something less good from happening and that we stop giving the police work,” he appealed.

Last week, the police had already been called to defend the headquarters of the National Patriotic Alliance (APN), National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA), Social Renovation Party (PRS) and Humanist Party of Angola (PHA), opposition parties with which the CASA-CE leadership is negotiating positions to try to solve the problem.

This morning, the CASA-CE headquarters in Maianga was the scene of scenes of violence, with several youths throwing objects and trying to force their way into the building.

Manuel Fernandes explained that the damage occurred only in the exterior area since the young people who protested could not access the interior of the house, lamenting that there is some “use in the sense of denigrating the party” and obtaining economic gains, even by of those who did not have an active participation in the supervision of votes.

CASA-CE registered more than 33,000 delegates for the general elections, of which about 13,000 were in Luanda.

Asked about the challenges that they will present in the face of the final results of the elections, according to which CASA-CE no longer has parliamentary representation, losing the 16 deputies it had, he revealed that the technical team continues to work on this issue.

The National Electoral Commission (CNE) announced on Monday that the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) won the elections in Angola with 51.17% of the vote compared to 43.95% for the National Union for Total Independence. of Angola (UNITA).

EITHER MPLA obtained 3,209,429 votes, electing 124 deputiesand UNITA obtained 2,756,786 votes, guaranteeing 90 deputies.

The PRS was the third most voted party with 1.14% of the total, electing two deputies, followed by the FNLA, also with two parliamentary seats and 1.06% of the votes.

The PHA will be the new political formation of the Angolan parliament, debuting with two deputies after winning 1.02% of the votes.

CASA-CE, which had 16 parliamentarians, lost all the seats, without exceeding 0.76% of the votes.

The NPC and the Nationalist Justice Party (P-Njango) are the other two competing parties that did not win seats and fell below 0.50%, and should be declared extinct.

The CNE plenary thus proclaimed the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, head of the MPLA list, the party with the most votes, and Vice President, Esperança da Costa, second on the MPLA list.
