“Our air defense repulsed the Ukrainian attack on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant with eight marches,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
Earlier, the pro-Russian authorities of Energodar said that “the supply of electricity to Ukraine from the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant was stopped for technical reasons.”
Notably, an International Atomic Energy Agency team was sent to the plant to inspect it and assess the material damage to its facilities, while Russian and Ukrainian authorities exchanged accusations of bombing the nuclear plant.
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, pointed out that “the situation at the Zaporozhye NPP requires constant monitoring, which we are trying to ensure as much as possible.” Grossi told her, “The integrity of the nuclear power plant has been breached several times and we do not currently have the necessary elements to assess whether this was done by accident or on purpose,” noting that “at present, it cannot be determined whether the damage was caused intentionally or “by mistake”.
